MASSAGE FAQ

WHAT IS HOLISTIC MASSAGE?

Holistic massage treats the person as a whole. As holistic therapists we’ll consider your emotional wellbeing, as well as how you are feeling physically. Each session is specifically tailored to your needs and so the treatment you receive will be unique, following no fixed routine, taking into account much more than just superficial aches and pains.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MASSAGE?

Just one treatment can often make a real difference to how you are feeling. That said, it’s often more effective to have a course of regular treatments. This may be weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on your needs. A treatment plan will be discussed with you, and reviewed as necessary. This will always be subject to your own preferences, and can be changed at any time according to progress.

WHY DO YOU HAVE TO ASK ABOUT MY MEDICAL HISTORY AND MEDICATION?

Holistic massage treats the whole person and can have an impact on any one of the body systems, be that lymphatic, cardiovascular or circulatory. As this is a hands-on treatment it’s important that your therapist has an awareness of how you are and any ongoing problems or medication so that she can tailor the treatment accordingly. As MTI qualified therapists, we are required to have a broad knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology so although your therapist is not in a position to diagnose, she will have a good understanding of how to work with a broad variety of clients. If you are in any doubt as to if you should be receiving massage you can seek permission from your doctor who will be able to clarify if the treatment is appropriate for you.

WHAT IF IM PREGNANT OR THINK I MIGHT BE?

Massage during pregnancy can be hugely beneficial to both mother and baby. It's perfectly safe for you to recieve massage after the first trimester
